Hello! I’m Hilary—the “Hil” in Hil Top Pots.

I have been artistic as long as I can remember —setting up my first shop as a child outside our local grocery store in rural San Diego selling handmade holiday cards.

In 2004 I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a film career, landing my first job as an Art PA on the first Transformers Feature. I worked my way up through various films and TV shows, settling into the art department graphic artist position.

In 2021 I took a “Wheel Wednesday” class for fun. I fell in love with ceramics immediately and signed up for more classes, workshops, and studio memberships. In February of 2024 I took a sgraffito workshop with the iconic Sarah Andersen and it completely changed how I looked at the surface of the clay—I found a way to blend my background of graphic design with my new passion, ceramics.

From my very first California Poppy designs to my Tiki & Spooky Collections I hope to create art that brings some joy into this world.
